Blepharoplasty in Turkey

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the eyelids.

Surgery can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids or both.

Whether you want to improve your appearance or are experiencing functional problems with your eyelids, eyelid surgery can rejuvenate the area surrounding your eyes.

Who is the best candidate for blepharoplasty

You may be a good candidate for blepharoplasty if you:

•   Are physically healthy

•   Are a nonsmoker

•   You want to eliminate excess skin on the upper/lower eyelids

•   Your upper eyelid affects your eyesight

•   Have puffy upper/lower eyelids that make you look less attractive

Blepharoplasty Consultation

A preliminary consultation will be done from your pictures and medical background. Then upon request we can organise an online consultation for you before you arrive. Once you are here you will have your consultation with the doctor. During your consultation you can get answers to all your questions. We are never in a hurry and listen to all your questions and doubts.

In your consultation you need to discuss with your doctor these topics:

•   The reason that you want to have your operation

•   Your expectations and the desired outcome

•   If you have any medical conditions, any drug allergies and previous medical treatments

•   If you are using any medications, vitamins, herbal supplements, alcohol, tobacco or drugs.

Your plastic surgeon will also:

•   Evaluate your health status

•   Examine your eyes area,

•   Take your photographs

•   Speak with you about the options and give recommendation

•   Discuss likely outcomes of blepharoplasty and any risks or potential complications

Blepharoplasty Operation

The operation consists in three phases. The beginning phase is the anesthesia, your operation will be performed in general anesthesia. The second phase is incision. The incision lines for eyelid surgery are designed so the resultant scars will be well concealed within the natural structures of the eyelid region. The upper eyelid can be corrected through an incision within the natural crease on the eyelid. This allows for removal or repositioning of fat deposits, tightening of muscles and removal of excess skin.

Conditions of the lower eyelid may be corrected with an incision just below the lower lash line. Through this incision, excess skin in the lower eyelid is removed. Again, the excess fat can be repositioned or removed.

A transconjunctival incision, created on the inside of the lower eyelid, is an alternate technique to correct lower eyelid conditions and redistribute or remove excess fat. With this technique, no skin is removed.

Last phase is closing incisions. Eyelid incisions typically are closed with sutures or skin glue. Sutures are removed within one week.

Blepharoplasty After Care

You must practice diligent sun protection and use darkly tinted sunglasses until the healing process is fully complete.
